Brendan Rodgers, Liverpools’ current manager is confident that his player’s focus will give them their first top-flight Premier League title since 1990.
Playing without fear, that’s the team’s key element in having eight consecutive victories while showing in the last six games what the team is really capable of.
While the pressure of possibly winning their first-ever Premier League crown surrounds them, the team’s mantra of focusing on the present and not the future will keep them at their best while in the pitch.
"If you ask players to play as we do, you have to give them the confidence. That is what you want - the courage to play.
We work to deal with pressure, to get on the ball. The players know 100 percent that if they make a mistake, I will take the blame.” Rodgers told reporters.
With a lot of people dreaming of Liverpool winning the title, the team’s players show neither pressure nor anxiety while on the field. That just goes to show that the players have gained their confidence throughout the years.
Rodgers strongly believes on the process rather than the end result.
What the team’s manager is really after is sustenance. Focus, concentration and hard work are the team’s main pressure that keeps them pushing in building a lasting team that will compete headstrong in the coming years.
"I feel a huge privilege to be here and be given the freedom to work. We are trying to make something that is sustainable here,” Rodgers also shared.
Emotion, that’s one thing the team, is practising to be callous about; being too disappointed when they lost or being too happy when they win. Rodgers said that they’re a work in progress, a team that will last for years.
